Xanthan Gum is used in skincare as both an emulsifier and texture enhancer. It is commonly included in creams because it creates a thick silky texture whilst simultaneously improving the spreadability of products. It also helps oils and water-based ingredients combine.

Xanthan Gum is naturally derived from the fermentation of sugars and the bacterium Xanthomonas Campestris, from which it derives its name.
